Two months that will fundamentally change the way you see, design, & work with flowers.
Â
This immersive "field study" is your jumpstart into color theory, art principles, & intentional composition- so your floral work feels cohesive, confident, & unmistakably yours.
Â
 Cohort begins March 23
Â
I can't wait to flower with you!
Here are a few more details about this 2 month deep dive experience.
 ..........
This course is for florists who feel like they’re almost there.
You know how to design- but something still feels off.
A bouquet that doesn’t quite sing.
A table that feels busy instead of intentional.
A color palette that works… but doesn’t move you.
Field Study: Learning the Language of Floral Art was created & exists to help close that gap.
This course gives you the visual language behind why certain designs work- and how to apply those principles to your own floral voice, regardless of style, trend, or market. Instead of copying inspiration, you’ll learn how to build designs from the inside out, with clarity & purpose.
What you’ll dance away with ....
A full understanding of the elements & principles of design
Why it matters: When you understand the foundations, your work becomes more refined, intentional, & elevated. You’ll be able to identify what isn’t working (and fix it!) without second-guessing yourself. This is how you attract clients who value artistry, not just flowers.
Tabletop & centerpiece design clarity
Why it matters: You’ll understand the universal building blocks behind successful table design, no matter your style. From ingredient scale to vessel choice to foam-free mechanics, you’ll gain tools that work across aesthetics while staying environmentally conscious.
A confident, working knowledge of color theory
Why it matters: Color stops feeling intimidating & starts feeling expansive. You’ll understand why palettes work (or don’t), how to push beyond “safe” choices, & how to pitch/execute more complex, emotionally rich designs- especially for weddings and events.
The start of intentional bouquet design mastery
Why it matters: Bouquets become true focal points, not afterthoughts. You’ll learn my hold mechanics (designed to save your hands), ingredient selection, & nuanced detailing- so each bouquet feels artful, dimensional, & worth lingering over.

I’m Karis — a floral designer and botanical artist based in California. So wonderful to have you here!
Over the years, flowers have taken me all over the world — freelancing, collaborating, and learning how many different languages botanical art can speak. Teaching has become one of my favorite ways to share that knowledge, helping other florists build confidence, clarity, & a strong UNIQUE design voice.

Module 1: Design Breakdown
Elements, Principles & Color Theory
................
This is where everything clicks.
Through two in-depth lecture-style classes, we’ll unpack the elements and principles of design and pair them directly with floral application. You’ll learn more about color theory than you ever have before—and, more importantly, how to use it.
After this module, you’ll be able to:
Identify what’s working (and what isn’t) in your designs
Build compositions with intention instead of instinct alone
Use color as a tool—not a limitation
Understand how design principles translate across all floral styles
Module 2: Intentional Bouquet Design
My personal favorite
................
This module focuses on creating bouquets that feel deliberate, balanced, and emotionally resonant. We’ll cover mechanics, ingredient selection, color melding, and detailed finishing—so every stem has a reason for being there.
After this module, you’ll be able to:
Design bouquets with clarity and confidence
Choose ingredients that support your concept, not fight it
Use mechanics more throughfully
Create bouquets that feel like true works of art
Module 3: Tabletop Design
Two shapes & styles
................
You’ll design:
A large-scale statement table piece
A full tablescape for a long table
Each design is intentionally different, allowing you to see just how adaptable the elements and principles of design truly are.
After this module, you’ll be able to:
Translate sketches/ideas into physical designs
Select floral ingredients by size, shape, and movement with intention
Choose vessels and mechanics that support your vision
Design foam-free, environmentally conscious work with confidence
"It was a refreshing experience to revisit the fundamentals of design, enhanced by the challenge of making each piece feel unique. I particularly enjoyed developing my styling skills and witnessing how each element came together beautifully with additional components."

Why I Created This Workshop
I’ve always found learning online to be… tricky. It’s easy to click play, skim, and forget, or to let lessons linger in the cloud without ever fully committing. I wanted to create something different- something intentional, focused, and structured- that could reach across the globe.
